GBVF Petition

Declare Gender-Based Violence and Femicide a National Disaster

Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) have reached crisis levels in South Africa, tearing apart families and communities, and claiming the lives of women, children, and vulnerable people every day. By declaring GBVF a national disaster, government would be compelled to mobilize urgent, coordinated action across all departments — unlocking emergency funding, strengthening law enforcement, improving victim support systems, and ensuring accountability at every level.

This petition also calls for a review of the criteria that define a “national disaster”, so that human crises like GBVF — not only natural or environmental ones — can trigger the same level of national response. By signing, you are helping to push Parliament to recognize GBVF as the national emergency it truly is, demanding immediate, sustained, and measurable action to protect lives and restore safety and dignity in South Africa.

Unemployment Petition

Declare Youth Unemployment a National Crisis

Our youth unemployment crisis fuels poverty, inequality, and social instability — and demands the same level of urgency as any national disaster. Declaring youth unemployment a national crisis under Section 55 of the Constitution would empower Parliament and Cabinet to act decisively through an emergency Citizens-First Employment Plan, focused on job creation, fair hiring, and accountability.

This petition calls for Parliament to amend the Employment Services Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and the National Minimum Wage Act to better protect young job seekers and ensure South Africans are prioritized in employment. It further demands quarterly public reporting by the Department of Employment and Labour on citizen-to-foreign national employment ratios, compliance with fair wage and internship laws, and cases of fraudulent recruitment or data misuse.

By signing this petition, you are urging Parliament to recognize youth unemployment as the national emergency it is, and to take immediate, coordinated action to rebuild opportunity, dignity, and hope for South Africa’s youth.

Workers Petition

Regulation of Fair Hiring & Employment Practices to Protect Workers

Every worker in South Africa deserves dignity, transparency, and protection from exploitation — yet unfair hiring and employment practices continue to deepen inequality and insecurity. This petition calls on Parliament to amend the Employment Equity Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), and the Employment Services Act to enshrine stronger safeguards for all job seekers and workers.

We call for a ban on payslip and salary history requests, with clear penalties for violations, and for mandatory salary range disclosure in all job advertisements to promote fairness and pay equity. The petition also demands the prohibition of unfair non-compete and poach-remuneration clauses, and the protection of workers and applicants from vague contracts, coercive conditions, and discriminatory “culture fit” assessments that undermine their rights.

Housing Petition

Petition for Fair Regulation of Housing, Rental, and Property Markets

Access to safe, affordable housing is a fundamental human right — yet millions of South Africans are locked out of the property market, trapped by rising rent, speculative pricingt, speculative pricing, and discriminatory practices that perpetuate financial apartheid. This petition calls for decisive reform to restore fairness, transparency, and accountability in the housing and rental sectors.

We urge Parliament to amend the Rental Housing Act (1999), Property Valuation Act (2014), and Tourism Act (2014) to give effect to the proposed protections. The petition calls for the establishment of a National Property Price Regulatory Authority to curb unchecked speculation and ensure fair value assessments. It further demands a ban on short-term letting platforms in residential zones, the enforcement of livability and minimum space standards for all apartments and subsidized units, and the regulation of rent-setting, bond linkage, and anti-discrimination fines through the Department of Human Settlements and Municipal Planning Tribunals.

Every signature is a step toward equality, opportunity, and accountability. Stand with fellow citizens in calling on Parliament to build a South Africa that truly works for everyone.
